My Arrow post isn't advancing too well (I'm switching SSRI's and a full post with pictures is apparently too much right now. Long story short: he was great as usual, but barely in the episode, so it was pretty blah). But I just wanted to make a post about all the news we've been seeing!
Firstly, James will appear on CSI! I'm not a huge fan of formulaic crime shows, but instead of playing a murderer or a crazy cult leader, he's going to be a reporter who wants to reveal the corrupt truth about the CSI team! This sounds like a pretty different role for James, and one that might bring some life into the old show. His episode is the final one of the season, and the air date has not been announced yet.
Then, several con reports! It will be a busy spring for James. Full con reports will follow at a pace depending on how I'm doing.
Firstly, Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo in Calgary, Canada, April 26-28! Mark Sheppard is also attending, out of his BSG co-stars. There's a wide range of stars from other shows, e.g. Wil Wheaton from Star Trek (and perhaps more importantly The Big Bang Theory), Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey from Game of Thrones, Richard Dean Anderson from McGyver and Stargate, Eliza Dushku and Nathan Fillion from, I'm too lazy to check but Buffy, Firefly and Dollhouse? Also interestingly, "Weird Al" Yankovic who I was briefly a fan of before James. Funny coincidence. (Or maybe a cosmic crash of planets and deeply meaningful? Moving on.)
Denver Comic Con in Denver, Colorado, May 31-June 2! Wil Wheaton will also be in attendance there, as well as Felicia Day from Eureka and George Takei himself. I don't really recognize any of the other stars, but many seem to be better known from comics. I should know more about comics. Hey, Stan Lee sounds familiar! I'm not a total ignoramus.
Last but definitely not least, Galacticon III in Houston, Texas, May 23-26! The guest list is almost the same as the full BSG cast: James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Edward James Olmos, Jamie Bamber, Michael Hogan, Rekha Sharma, Kate Vernon, Aaron Douglas, Nicki Clyne, Michael Trucco Kandyse McClure, Leah Cairns, Luciana Carro, Richard Hatch. People keep saying "mini BSG reunion" about every project two BSG actors do together, but this is a true BSG reunion. Only Mary Mc, Grace, Tahmoh and AJ missing, really. I'm stunned. In addition, they will have stars from the original BSG and Caprica.
It's nice to see the Denver Comic Con site use a picture of James from Arrow, which is the most up-to-date public photo of him. It might be slightly misleading, given he was barely even on one episode. But it's how he looks today, as opposed to the ca. 2005-2006 BSG promo shots picked by the other sites. On the other hand, the original BSG's stars all have head shots taken in the 70's, so maybe that's apt. I wish they used Dennys Ilic pictures sometime. Like say, this one. "He'll be there all wet and dripping!" It would be a nice incentive. A lot of people don't actually realize how handsome James is, maybe because Baltar was always so weaselly and greasy-haired. It was nice to hear people say how hot he was in Arrow.

James Callis on Arrow: Trailer!
"Touch one hair on my head - and she loses hers."
Wow. This might in fact be his creepiest character since "You're my binary messengeer.." On the one hand, he seems like a real evil villain, but on the other hand: do NOT touch one hair in his head! The fangirls are very fond of those hairs. They're not worth killing for, but... (Hmm, or are they?)
At first it looks like he's just sappily admiring art - but no, he's staring longingly at the pretty lady and thinking "That's a nice neck to wrap a bomb around!"
I'm a bit confused, because I thought Dodger was supposed to be some kind of morally ambiguous character, who ends up teaming up with the Green Arrow in the comics. But what will happen here? (Also, I thought he was called "the Dodger" because he's so good at escaping, not because he "doesn't like to get his hands dirty", but OK.)
So, "The Dodger" will be on this wednesday! We'll see what James gets up to.
OH! And in case I haven't remembered to gush about it here, Rekha Sharma, who played Tori on BSG, is also going to be in this episode! I hope they have scenes together, because it would be so much fun to see James and Rekha together again!

PS. There is also facial hair.

James Callis at Sci Fi Expo: Watch This Space
Monday, February 18 2013: Nerd Online Interview!
Sorry for my tardiness with updating this post - last week was crazy.
The Nerd Show interview is there! It's in audio but it's also available on Youtube here. James is interviewed at about 2:30- ca. 8:20. Excellent, a 6-minute interview! It starts a bit comically with James just saying "yes" - is this your first time in Texas, etc. James says he had barbecue and it was delicious. Hmmmm. That's fascinating for me, probably not so much to others. What really amuses me is the bit where he talks about a woman getting an autograph on "her.. bosoms", and how "her boyfriend looked like he wanted to deck me". He wrote, "This is gonna be hard to get off your chest". Heee! He sounds so uncomfortable talking about someone's breasts, he can't even say the word "breasts". Maybe he's not as dirty-minded as you'd think, or is at least so gentlemanly that he wants to be subtle and polite. Awww.
He also says that sci fi fans are very smart, and that if something doesn't measure up to our intellectual expectations, "you hear about it, and you hear about it fast." That's true. I hear a real respect in that statement.
All in all, great interview! Tricia and Eddie are interviewed later on, Eddie's is at the very end and Tricia's at around 30 minutes. (I'm too lazy to hunt the exact spots now.)
Nicole has updated her Livejournal with her con story, parts 1 and 2, which is a fun read as always. The photo of her with James and Tricia (in part 1) is SO CUTE. (Three layers under the coat? Damn, I was hoping he was just getting pudgy.) Also, lots of awesome con photos! James being embarrassed (see below). And just AWWWWW. Awesome.
..DAMN. This is why I haven't been gushing all week about Arrow. I really think that if he has so little to do in that episode, it's false advertising. It's like "we're gonna have a big sci fi star!!!" and then he's on two seconds. It looked longer than that in the promo, but we'll see.
I won't quote her entire post, so go read in part 2 yourself what Tricia said. This was really beautiful, actually. Too bad Nicole didn't get to ask at the panel.
Here's an up-close version of Tricia telling the story of the infamous "Gaius takes Six from behind" shot. Just look at James' face! He's sooo embarrassed, he closes his eyes. Tricia's husband was on set that day and heeeee. Tricia starts talking about at 2:35.
That's about it, I think. In other news, I switched to my brother's old Macbook Air over the weekend, and if I manage to not break this thing, I think it will improve my blogging greatly. At least it's a lot faster than my old PC was! Also, James uses Mac (or at least he has an iPad), so this is very Jamesworthy indeed.
Tuesday, Februry 12 2013: FULL PANEL ONLINE!!!!!
OMGA!!!! Yodasama posted the entire panel on Youtube! Thank you thank you thank you!
I haven't even watched the whole thing yet because DONUTS!!!!. The incredibly cute James and Tricia stuff starts at about 17 minutes. She kisses him! Twice!
And then James mentions the donuts. Oh my giddy aunt. It's so adorable, he even makes "donut holding" hands and everything. It's been four years since I found the donut story, and I really didn't think I'd hear with my own ears when he talks about it. I'm beyond joyful.
Meanwhile, mel1lifesashow has posted briefer video, sadly without the aforementioned bits. But it's from closer up, so here you can see James being sheepishly uncomfortable and shy when Tricia talks about the infamous "Baltar takes Six from behind while opera plays" scene. Too cute!!! James talks very highly of Eddie here.
I might provide a transcript, or I might not; since I do it for a living now I have less energy to transcribe James on my free time. I have a feeling I will transcribe the donut bit though. ;)
I'm very behind with work so I can't stay and gush for too long, but here are some photos:
Sheepishly friendly gentleman. from RevG14.
OMG James-fan-Tricia kiss sandwich. from the very lucky Bethajo.
Nicole's panel pix! Many cute James/Tricia moments. Part one, part two (kisses!), part three.
So say we all. from Maceedisgracee.
Coming attractions: The Nerd Show are promising a James interview, and I'll link as soon as it's up. Not sure if it's video or audio, but either way, awesome.
I'm just... wow. I feel like every time there's a con, technology has advanced another notch, and we get full panel videos and photos within days of the con. It's a little hard to grasp. But I'm definitely not complaining. Oh, the donuts of it all.
Sunday, Februay 10 2013: Nicole's panel highlights!
Nicole has shared the best parts of last night's panel!
I'll comment on this later maybe, if I feel more coherent but I am a very happy little puppy.
So that's the main Jamesy bits! Many thanks to Nicole for being my eyes and ears at the con. Maybe one day we'll go together. Not sure if James could withstand such a fangirl attack though.
Other than that, we have two photos: the first photo op picture with all BSG actors and two fans, from yousilvertongueddevil - James looks like a dapper, mild-mannered gentleman! - a cute candid shot from the autograph line from innerfrenchgirl. He looks every bit as lovely and charming as everyone's saying. Awwww. There's also an autograph - "Can't get you out of my head", hee! Nicole got "How taxing", because she works with taxes. Silly cheesy James.
Saturday, February 9 2013: D-d-d-donuts...
(Coherent background info: the con's in Dallas, there was one panel with James, Tricia and EJO + photo ops and autographs today and tomorrow. Nicole is currently at the con and will tell us more details later. The donut story has been mentioned before causing immense feels, more details here.)
I don't have a lot of actual updates yet, but Nicole who's lucky enough to be there said James talked about the donuts asjflkjafdkjbkljlafjaljfdljfkaljdflajlaxxxxxxxxxxxx
OMG. Oh god. I am floating. I don't even know.. how.. how do you even expect me to write a coherent post? It doesn't help that I have terrible sugar high from attending my aunt's 60th birthday party. So many pastries (though not donuts).
Besides the donuts which obviously are the main thing about this con and any con they'd ever be mentioned at... Here are the things I've found:
In a particularly adorable move, James and Tricia both tweeted this picture, with the captions "ooh back with my gal xx" and "Ooh, back with my man" respectively. OMG GUYS. They should do ALL cons together, because apparently the world just explodes with cute when they do.
Unlike that picture would lead you to think, he was wearing a BEIGE coat and scarf, not green. As we can see in these panel pictures: flashy smile and a general shot, where we can see the full panel, consisting of James, Tricia and Eddie. I must say the armchairs look comfier than the usual table and chairs. It's almost like they're having afternoon tea at each other's place, chatting comfortably.
A third, clearer picture also shows the moderator. That does take away from the tea party feel. I'd like to see a closeup of James' attire to fully appreciate its qualities. I thought he had huge black pants on both sides of the chair, but they turned out to be heads. (Mind you, I'm not complaining about photo quality or distance; I'm glad we get photos of panels at all.)
Nicole reports that James was wearing a white flannel shirt over a green shirt, with the red cap and sunglasses we can see here. Layers! It's not four, but still three layers with the coat. The coat and scarf look very stylish, so thumbs up, but I realize I miss the black leather jacket. Maybe he retired it after so many cons. I'm not sure about the cap; it's cute and boyish but it hides his luscious hair, so it's both good and bad. And donuts.
James remembered Nicole's name, which came in handy:

asked him about his upcoming movie Austenland, which he said was a departure for him, very "silly." He added he's also about to be on "Arrow" in a couple of weeks but sounded... kind of unenthused about that, making jokes about how he didn't really do much in it, "I flew through that show quite LIKE an arrow." He didn't actually sound all that confident he'd be on it again.
..DAMN. This is why I haven't been gushing all week about Arrow. I really think that if he has so little to do in that episode, it's false advertising. It's like "we're gonna have a big sci fi star!!!" and then he's on two seconds. It looked longer than that in the promo, but we'll see.
It had hit me mid-convention that the thing I really wanted to say to Tricia's face more than anything, that somehow I'd never gotten to before, was... basically that whole story about how Gina was gonna be written more sexual and immediately hook up with Baltar* and she was the one who pushed against that and made her more brittle etc.
I won't quote her entire post, so go read in part 2 yourself what Tricia said. This was really beautiful, actually. Too bad Nicole didn't get to ask at the panel.

Sunday, Februay 10 2013: Nicole's panel highlights!
Nicole has shared the best parts of last night's panel!
It opened with the mod asking them about their charity work, so EJO talked about Waterkeeper, Tricia about Acting Outlaws, James didn't really have any project like that but did say he gives money from his con stuff to children's charities. There was a bit of joking from James (yeah, surprisingly not Eddie!) who had misheard something backstage as "charities you'd like to pump for" which he thought was... an interesting use of the word pump. The guy told him he'd actually said PIMP, which is even worse.LOL! And we thought Eddie was the dirty-minded one!
Oh there was also a little funny line toward the beginning where the moderator said something about Baltar's morality changing with the breeze, and James was all jokingly like "There was no acting required."
James tried his American accent which is still awful. :p He joked about trying to do an American accent in his first scene in Battlestar when they were filming, just sneak it in there with his first line to the reporter, but they wanted him British. He had the best line of the panel when he said it's the dream of British actors to work in America, or rather "for Americans, in Vancouver."I don't have much to add to that; apparently there weren't too many new aspects (this is where I'm sad Nicole wasn't able to ask, because we had thought of it in beforehand - 17th Precinct since both James and Tricia were there. But oh well.)
Best part of James and Tricia on a panel together, as I said on twitter, was not one but two awkward sex-scene stories, even if I've heard them before. :) They talked about how the mini "glowing spine" scene was the first thing they shot together, and that she was practicing getting the clasp on her overly complicated outfit off. James was eating his anxiety with donuts from catering, and felt awkward about his flesh-colored undies and everything, and he told a crew member he didn't want them to laugh at him and the guy was like "Trust me, no one's looking at you." And he was like "great", and had another donut.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONUTS.. He.. many donuts, they.. are round for the most part and .. holes i the middle in.. maybe frosting too? They.. I..
I'll comment on this later maybe, if I feel more coherent but I am a very happy little puppy.
EJO talked about the improvised "so say we all!" scene in the mini, but James jumped in and added his perspective which was nice -- he said the rest of them really needed that push, and that something "crystallized" in that moment for the show. He noted that it also felt scary in a way, like a group-consciousness rallying thing. They should have given Gaius something similar with the cult. There was never chanting, was there?
The moderator went into this whole thing about the late Larry Hagman from "Dallas" (which I guess has a lot of weight given where the con is) enthusing to him about the new Battlestar Galactica and that it had an ensemble of great actors who always had something going on behind their eyes, and the mod was really excited to tell James Callis especially that he had mentioned him and compared Baltar to JR, lol. (I wasn't sure how to take that, since all I've ever heard about JR is that he's eeevil and I had this kneejerk BALTAR IS NOTHING LIKE THIS HATED CHARACTER I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FROM A SHOW I NEVER WATCHED. But James laughed and seemed pretty tickled about it.)OH FOR FRAK'S SAKE Baltar is nothing like JR!!! JR was evil. But maybe the positive aspect is that an acting veteran praises your work, so I'm not surprised James was happy. I question Hagman's understanding of Baltar, but may he rest in peace and all that.
Tricia told the other awkward sex scene story about Olmos deciding on the day to do the "taking her from behind" scene in Tigh Me Up (he did ask her in her trailer first, I'm kinda glad to know that), the one time her husband was visiting the set. The cute part is that from the *minute* she started telling this story, when only he (and me 'cause I've heard it before) knew where it was going, James was like burying himself in his chair and under his hat and looking all sheepish and embarrassed. And then afterwards he was like, "I'm SO glad you told that story, Tricia. Phenomenally glad.":D :D :D :D :D Shy boy!!!!! That's soo cute. I hope someone puts up a video of that (and donuts).
Oh also there was a bit where she was like "Are there children here?" and he put his fingers in his ears like "Cover your ears."Ha! :D He should know if you tell kids that, they want to hear it more than ever.
James praised EJO a lot, said that he would drop everything to work with him again, etc. He did say this one interesting thing about how anyone can act, even in regular life people play different personas all the time, if you're in a snobby store you act like you belong there, etc. But it takes being comfortable, and he felt he could do anything and was "bulletproof" with EJO directing him. It's always nice to see how much respect they have for EJO. This atmosphere on set is probably also a big reason why the acting is so beautiful. Something of the chemistry comes out on the show.
Being the flustered uber-klutz I am, I left my program leaflet thing on the floor near James Callis & he yelled my name across the room...
TOO CUTE. Nicole has been to many cons so James knows her, and I'm always really happy for her (and just a little jealous). She's lovely and always rushes to give me details, in mid-con, so she deserves it. :*
Also some other tweets:
- I'm at a Battlestar Q&A and holy cow is James Callis the most charming dude ever. I need to be more like him.
- Q: how was it playing a character with a moral compass that swings with the breeze? A: No acting needed ;) - James Callis/ Baltar
Happy to have met & chatted w @jamescallis at #dallascomiccon! What a charming, sweet & funny man! We talked a bit re Bridget Jones :-)
Everything is beautiful. James, Tricia, donuts, everything.
Back tomorrow, with hopefully more coherent updates.

Austenland Coming to Theatres!
Good news, everyone! Sony has bought worldwide rights to Austenland.
Which means:
AN INDIE FILM WITH JAMES CALLIS
IS GOING TO HIT THE CINEMAS!!!!
You can see. James Callis. In the theatre.
I might even see him in cinemas in Finland!
The reviews have been overall good and it sounds like a funny movie with a great cast.
My cup runneth over. There are a few videos, but I'm just too excited to post anything else today.

James Callis on Austenland: Sundance!
So the big Austenland premiere took place on Friday, and there are so many pictures and links I can't even keep up. Apparently when it's a con, it takes a while for people to upload their photos, but when it's a big movie festival, there are reporters with cameras all around, and the pictures are online the same day.
Where do I start? There's an article here with several photos. Sadly no quotes from James, but you can see him at the premiere. And this outfit, I have to stop here and say that he was wearing FOUR LAYERS. Four. Two flannel shirts apparently (or is one a flannel COAT?), one suede coat, one undershirt. And red pants, which was slightly baffling. (Bret McKenzie also had red pants on, so maybe there was some connection.) I checked the weather in Utah that day, and it was -6 C/35 F. Incidentally, in Finland we had -24 C/-11.2 F that day; I wore my down coat, which I would never ever wear for -6. I don't think James could survive a minute in Finnish winter. (And no, it's not always -24 here.) I know it's a matter of what you're used to, but man.
In some pictures, he's wearing a green hoodie, but here some of the other things are taken off. I like that hoodie. He looks good in green. The flannel shirts look good too, it's just... so many layers! And I'm mystified by this eye patch. Nice winter boots, though.
Before I go any further, here's a tip to James. This is how I survive the coldest days of winter. (Maybe it's not the best idea for an actor though, if he wants to look good for press photos.) Here's a possible idea of how it might look on him:
Look how happy he is! About the pants, he's leaning a bit or something, and his torso is.. Ugh, I drew the pants before the coat. Oh whatever, it's not the Mona Lisa, you get the picture. (Note that I'm not saying his torso is that big, just that down coats can be HUGE.)
Speaking of leaning, adorable lean-in picture of the cast and crew who were present. Ricky Whittle is apparently strong enough to hold them all like a bookend.
Cute group shots, everyone's happy, and James hugs Keri Russell, and I'm not going to launch into an "OMG Keri Russell, I've watched her things since I was 11" thing, but I did watch Daddy's Girls back in the day... Also, Keri is totally gorgeous and seems lovely.
Shots from the Austenland party later on. I think the tall bearded guy is Jared Hess, whose wife Jerusha directed the film. She looks like a cute pixie, by the way. And James getting cuddly with Jane Seymour! Ah how worlds collide, I used to watch Dr Quinn - Medicine Woman before I even heard of James etc. etc. (I've gotta stop doing this every time James meets an actor I have seen in something else. He exists in the same universe so it's only natural.)
Lovely shot here. Looks like an official photo shoot they had. EYES. Oh my giddy aunt.
James posted some Austenland-related pictures on his Twitter. Colonel Andrews in uniform! A must-see.
Also, there was a Q&A! Here's a more official video from Sundance Institute, and there's another one on YouTube taken from another spot, apparently by an audience member. You can see a bit more of James in the latter, but sadly he was standing on the very far left and there were many people on stage. So he's sort of lost from the frame for a lot of it. A lot of Bret McKenzie, who's very funny too. James and JJ Feild seem to talk the least.
James is cute as usual, though. He starts by saying, "I wasn't aware that Steve Austin actually wrote any books, but I was always a huge fan of Steve Austin." Huge laugh from the crowd. "And I actually modeled my performance.. bits of it, seem to have been cut out, those bits." *Indignant look and headshake * "But yeah I read the script and obviously just, yeah I wanted to be involved, (in pretty much any character). Yes I'm just echoing everything that everybody's said already, it really was a lot of fun to make. And it looks like you enjoyed it too." The last part is for the audience, so that sounds good. I didn't know who Steve Austin was, but he's someone from Wrestlemania. I wonder if James is really a fan (probably not).
Someone - it might be Shannon Hale, the author of the book, but I'm not sure, and I'm sorry - says, "I remember one night we were sitting around and just chatting, and a PA came up to James and said, 'You're wrapped for tonight.' James said, 'Oh really? Usually that's good news, but here one wants to linger.'" That made her so happy. "I wasn't acting," James says, and everyone laughs. Then they hug. Awww! It's clear James has a great chemistry with these people, and that making this movie was a fun experience. So I feel all happy and gooey inside.
Other cute moments:
Ricky Whittle says Jerusha Hess told them, "You know the story, you know the characters, now have fun with it." This is where I got really excited, because if you tell James that, what can the result be besides comedy gold?
Bret McKenzie shows off his "abs", and I started to wish James had done the same, but no. Ricky Whittle, the resident ab, pec, and bicep man of the movie, attributes his looks to good genes. He also said his chest and crotch got him the part.
Speaking of bodies, Keri Russell was pregnant during the film, and they had to try and hide the belly with scarves. Awww!
There's also an exclusive clip of Austenland on MTV's website. James' faces are hilarious! :D
The reviews are mostly positive - breezy and modestly funny; "plenty of life in old Austen yet"; "a delightful mix of charm, satire, romance, and irreverence"; "pleasant comic romp". However, at least one reviewer found it lifeless and typical rom-com fare - "a Katherine Heigl movie minus Heigl." Ouch!
James is described as "campy comic relief character" and "clownish". Well, that's something he does well. I'd love to see him in more serious roles, because he does the soul-crushing guilt stuff even better. But I really love watching him be funny, and some of these reviews list him as one of the best. And then there's this:
Finally, I have to applaud James Callis’ Monty-Python worthy comedic performance. His over-the-top, expertly timed parody of the 19th century romantic gentleman gave me more laugh-out-loud moments than I’ve had in a long time.
Monty Python worthy. Is there higher praise than that?
In short, it sounds like a real triumph for James, and I think I'm going to enjoy this film. He has a lot of scenes with Jennifer Coolidge, who some reviewers scolded for being too over-the-top, but we'll see. I'm not too keen on the idea of her trying to hit on James' character and failing; such narratives are often based on the idea of the female character not being as attractive (whether it's done by making her look bad or act bad). Also, in reality, there are way more often men who throw themselves at women. But this also means James will be a sex object in the film, and that's something I can definitely get behind. Coolidge's character can be like the biggest fangirl ever.
It seems like the film might even get into cinemas, unless I'm being way too optimistic. It would be awesome to see James on the big screen again. I'll be watching closely for Austenland news. I have got to see this movie!

James Callis on Arrow: Pictures!
OK, YVR Shoots has been alert and we've got our first James in Arrow photos! Unfortunately, it seems to be a no on the long hair. But look at him! So cute!
As per usual, he looks to be a little cold. He's donning business attire for the role, by the looks of it. Some business-clad men are accompanying him. I really know nothing about the show, so this will all be very new to me.
The episode James appears in, titled "Dodger" like his character, will air on February 20, according to imdb. Of course, it's possible there will be more than one episode. We'll see!

James Callis Christmas Movie Ideas! ;)
With this, a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukka, Tip Tot Tet, Kwazy Kwanzaa, and a solemn dignified Ramadan. And a Happy New Year. :) Also to James, in case he's reading. I would wish him Merry Christmas on Twitter, but sometimes I just get shy because he's really going to read it. I feel more comfortable writing silly things on the blog.
(I might or might not do a silly picture thing, but at the moment I don't have my James pictures to draw on, so I'll just be verbal.)
Once again, these are NOT real movies. I'm just being silly in the style of Awful Movie Database. Which, by the way, is hilarious and should update more often.

Ho Ho Holly
Scott (James Callis) is a typical dudebro. He has strong feelings for and against. For: hot chicks, beer, bros, giving wedgies. Against: ugly chicks, vegetables, hos, receiving wedgies. But Christmas gives him mixed feelings!! Especially when he falls for the hot Holly (Tricia Helfer), who wants to teach him the true meaning of Christmas - and it's giving and loving. He feels icky girl germs getting all over him - how will he fight this?! His bros Rock (Aaron Douglas) and Brock (Jamie Bamber) to the rescue. Who wins, bros or hos? Will Scott find the true meaning of Christmas? Who gives the final wedgie?
Dialogue sample:
Brock: Hey dude, wanna give the nerd next door a wedgie?!
Scott: Uh, I dunno. Holly says wedgies are mean and not fitting to the Christmas spirit.
Rock: You've changed, man.
Brock: Bros before hos, man!!!
(Rock and Brock give Scott a wedgie.)
Jingle (Wedding) Bells
Bobby (some no-name actor) and Stacey (Katherine Heigl) are about to be married! They are soo happy, and everything is full of joy and love, especially since it's December 21st. But right before the wedding can take place, Bobby is hit by a car and goes into a coma. Despite the tragedy, Stacey pulls herself together and tries to rejoice Christmas with the help of empathetic and sexy doctor Seth (James Callis). As it happens, Seth's family is far away in London, and Stacey invites him to their house for Christmas. Will Seth put up with her wacky family? Will Stacey and Seth fall for each other (duh)? What happens when Bobby wakes up from a coma right as Stacey and Seth are kissing?!!! Warning: this movie is not recommended for intelligent people.

Stacey's Grandma: You know, Seth, you are quite the fetching young man.
Seth: Uh, t-thank you, that's so kind of you. (blushes adorably)
Stacey's Grandma: Oh boy! I've been thinking of becoming a cougar, actually.
Stacey: Grandma!!!!
Seth: (alternately spits out his drink or squirts something)
Stacey: I feel like Christmas came for me after all.
Seth: It comes to everyone, Stacey. Always.
(kiss)
Bobby: Hey, wait a minute! What are you doing kissing my girlfriend!
Stacey: Bobby, you woke up!
Stacey: It's so great you understand, Bobby.
Bobby: I'm heartbroken. But I love you and want you to be happy.
(sob-story music)
Seth: You're a good guy, Bob. Here's something for your heartache.
Stacey: What did you give him?
Seth: Oh you know, just some extasy.
Stacey: SETHY!
Seth: What, did you want some too?
Santa Clones
Mick Hallis (James Callis) is an ordinary, slightly goofy family father. When Christmas morning comes, he finds a stray dog in the snow and brings him in as a Christmas gift for the kids. As the family rejoices, their neighbor Joaquin Phoenix (Joseph Fiennes) shows up to ask about his missing dog... In the spirit of Christmas sharing, Mick and Joaquin decide to get the dog cloned. Wacky inventor Hermes Rotschild (Tim Allen) makes a little mistake, and now, much to the dismay of Mick's sensible wife Elmie (Julie Delpy), there are two of Mick! What will become of Christmas, and their lives?!
Elmie: Mick, we don't know whose dog this is.
Mick: Oh I'm sure he's just a stray!
Elmie: Really? He looks remarkably well fed and trusting.
Mick: Who knows what old lady has been feeding him. I name him Belchy.
Elmie: Mick, I really don't think you should give him beer.
Generic children: What's this!!! Do we get to keep him!! He's sooo cute! We name him Chris, because he came at Christmas!
Mick: I prefer Belchy.
Joaquin: Howdy neighbor!
Mick: Howdy J-quin! How's life?
Joaquin: Not so good partner. Our dog Morby went missing.. Oh there he is!!!
Mick: Uh oh.
Hermes Rotschild: This is so exciting!!! *fiddles with 100 computers*
Mick: Are you sure this is safe, Inventor Rotschild?
H.R.: Safe? Hahahaha! Ahahahahaha! Ahahahahahahahaahaaa!!!!!!
Mick: Uh oh.
Elmie: Mick, this is insane! What am I going to do with you? You both.
Mick: Elmie, this could be GREAT! Think about it. Double the fun... One of me can go to work, the other one can stay and pleasure you all day...
Elmie: I'd be satisfied with either of you doing the yard work.
Generic boy: Hey, Daddy's here AND Santa's here!
Generic girl: *gasp* This must be the REAL Santa!
Mick: Heh heh! *winks at camera*

Holy Frakking Casting News, Batman. (About James Callis.)
(Sometimes the weaknesses of Google search cramp my titling style. The thing is, Google will not find this post unless I say James Callis in the title so...)
It's been quiet for a while, but yesterday we suddenly got TWO casting news in one day. Awesome!
Firstly the officially announced one: James will play jewel thief Dodger in Arrow. Here's the link from TV Guide, and here you can see the character. It's interesting when you have a visual idea, instead of just a description of what the character is like. I'm slightly dismayed to find that it's a long-haired British character. (Not that I object to long hair!!) Many people consider Baltar a villain, so a long-haired (dodgy!) villain in a sci fi/comics thing, well, slightly smells of typecasting. However, seeing the quote - "Big fan of your wars, and the telly" - gave me a joyful feeling. I can hear James say it, and I'm loving it. This might be just the role for him, with his comedic timing. Sadly it's one episode only, but hopefully an unforgettable performance! This show will air in January.
Secondly, this is not on the imdb page of the movie or any other official source, but so far two actors on Twitter have expressed their joy of working with James. So it's out there: James will be in British movie Dreck, a thriller about a near future dystopia where all recreational drugs are legal. The trailer certainly looks interesting. James posted a picture of himself on set with a rather.. different look. O.o Umm.. Eh.. It's n-not that I have anything against James aging, but I'm rather stunned by this. I think it's because when I imagine James older, I imagine this smiling, warm-eyed, perhaps round-cheeked man with lots of flowy white hair. This is some business tycoon hardass with a piercing look in his eyes and oddly silvery hair. He looks downright dangerous! This may give us some idea as to the character in the film.
I've lost the majority of yesterday's tweets in a sea of today's news about Arrow; Twitter is a great source for quick news, but terrible for repetition. So I can't say who it was who lauded James as an actor. Some guy affiliated with Dreck. Good stuff either way.
So, lots to look forward to in the coming year! :)

James Callis on Austenland: Tightpants!!
Entertainment Weekly offers us a first look at Austenland in the form of a very dapper promo picture. (Edit: the link has expired but the picture is here.) And honestly, those pants. Those pants! They are so tight! They.. so tight. This, that is.. unprecedented tight.
I promise that when and if I see Austenland, I will be able to focus on other OMG those pants.
Um, I'll just leave you with this and perhaps blog on another day when I'm not quite so.. preoccupied.
PS. That hat!

James Callis Will Be at Sci-Fi Expo (Dallas) 2013!
Yeehaw! (Is that right for Texas? I feel like such a phoney.)
James Callis has been announced as a guest for next year's Sci-Fi Expo in Dallas, Texas! (Hey, Dallas Texas, James Callis, it all ends with S's! Fitting.) The con will take place on February 9-10. The other announced BSG guests are Tricia Helfer (eeeee OTP gush), Edward James Olmos, and Sam Witwer.
And on this happy occasion, allow me to say that I wish they used some picture other than that one with the oily hair and the haunting/haunted look at the camera from 200-frakking-5. I don't think it does his handsomeness justice.
The con's page is here. More news/photos/gushery as it draws closer.
..Draws, or lassoes..? OK, I promise, no more jokes pertaining to the location of the con.
PS. I shot JR.
